A watch is more than a piece of jewelry
A watch serves the critical function of keeping time for you — and with you — at all times

  • Removal of the watch movement from the case
  • Removal of the hands and dial from the watch movement
  • Careful inspection of the movement for wear
  • Documentation of the condition of the watch
  • Complete disassembly of the movement
  • Ultrasonic cleaning and rinsing in specialized non-aqueous watch solutions
  • Heated drying process to remove residual moisture
  • Assembly and lubrication of movement with caliber-specific lubricants
  • Replacement of gaskets, mainspring and crystal, as needed
  • Reattachment of dial and hands to watch movement
  • Cleaning of watch bracelet and polishing of case
  • Carefully inserting the movement into the case
  • Electronic timing
  • Automatic winding check
  • Pressure testing for water resistance, as appropriate

Minimum charge

To determine what needs to be done to repair a watch requires the removal of the movement from its case. There is a minimum charge of $85 to cover the time spent to remove and inspect the movement. This is not an additional charge if the customer proceeds with the complete overhaul service.

Estimates are available in advance

Additional repairs may be required after close inspection and based on evaluation by the horologist. Customers will be advised of the findings.

Repairs are guaranteed based on the timepiece and extent of repairs

Normally, 1 year for watches.

The history of the timepiece is provided when available

Caring for your watch:

  • Wind your watch completely (automatic wind watches should be preloaded with 25 turns) before putting the timepiece on your wrist or in your pocket.
  • Wind in one direction only versus a forward and backward winding motion.
  • Have a certified horologist oil your watch to ensure it is oiled in the necessary areas and with the correct amount of oil.
  • Using non-watch oil can cause damage, unnecessary wear or watch stoppage.
  • Clean your watch every five to seven years for best operation.
  • Your watch is running constantly. Just as you would not ignore the routine maintenance of your car with inspections, oil changes and other services, your watch deserves the same careful treatment.

Wyndwood Tyme provides expert repair and restoration of heirloom wrist, pocket watches and other fine timepieces. As with other valued heirloom timepieces, watches are normally serviced — fully disassembled, cleaned and lubricated — every 5 to 7 years for best operation. Please contact Wyndwood Tyme for your next service.

TESTIMONIALS

Dear John,
Enclosed please find my check for the wonderful repair of a special and beloved watch. Although it states “water resistant,” I shall always remove. Thank you for being so wonderful with JP. He is happy and speaks highly of you.

My clocks sound beautiful and keep perfect time. Thank you for your patient “clock appreciation” tutorial. It’s given me a re-born fondness for what I have been given.

Dear John, I just finished watching the moon set over the houses in the back. Very close to me, the new life in my clock pulsed away. It was beautiful! And today is CLOCK DAY, so then I pulled (very carefully and with gloves) the weights on the clock. Just wanted you to know that the clocks has been running beautifully, and the renewal it has given me is profound. I didn’t realize how much I missed it. So glad it’s back!
Thank you for your craftsmanship!

-With appreciation, MD

Hi John — The wall clock is proudly chiming every 1/2 hour once again and the old Sicura (wristwatch) is ticking away nicely as well. I’m wearing it today.Thank you very, very much for your time and effort on these pieces. I’ll recommend you to anyone who asks me if I know someone who does clock and watch repair.

-Regards, SM
